Dyslexia

“Dyslexia is a neurological difference and can have a significant impact during education, in the workplace and in everyday life. As each person is unique, so is everyone’s experience of dyslexia. It can range from mild to severe, and it can co-occur with other learning differences. It usually runs in families and is a life-long condition.” (British Dyslexia Association, 2020)

  • They are struggling to read books given as homework or whilst revising
  • Often avoiding reading, especially if asked to read out loud
  • Loosing their place and repeating words already read
  • Read and write slowly
  • Get easily distracted
  • Can take verbal instruction but struggle if its written
  • Complain words are blurry, double or moving off the page

From here, we could prescribe some tools to assist which may include coloured overlays or tinted spectacles or refer you to our sister company VisionCare Development for an assessment with Ruth Perrott and possibly some vision therapy.
